How To Play Free To Play Fall Guys On The Steam Deck

Learn how to play the free play Epic Games version of Fall Guys on your Steam Deck using the Heroic Games Launcher. Fall Guys was removed from Steam and moved to the Epic Games store as it goes free to play.

Prerequisites:

    • Heroic Games Launcher (via Discover). I’ve seen others get this working via EGL or Lutris. I don’t do it this way, so you’ll have to ask them instead if you prefer either of those launchers.
    • Heroic Bash Launcher to add games from Heroic to your Steam library. I recommend putting these files into /home/deck/Games/Heroic/HeroicBashLauncher/ without the version number. This way, it’s easier to manage updates, and you don’t need to mess with flatpak permissions.
    • Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime (install from your Steam library)

Steps

  1. Install Fall Guys via Heroic (default folder /home/deck/Games/Heroic/FallGuys/ or on SD card /run/media/mmcblk0p1/Heroic/FallGuys). I will refer to the game folder as FallGuys. Run it once from Heroic to establish the prefix folder. I used Proton 7.
  2. Make a symllink or copy of /EasyAntiCheat/easyanticheat_x64.so in folder /FallGuys_client_game_Data/Plugins/x86_64/ (some are not having success with just a symlink. if it doesn’t work for you, do a straight copy)
  3. Edit /FallGuys_client.ini and change the first line to be TargetApplicationPath=FallGuys_client_game.exe.
  4. Add Fall Guys to your Steam library with Heroic Bash Launcher
  5. Go to your Steam shortcut for Fall Guys, open Properties, Shortcut. Place PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME="/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime/" %command% into the launch options. (You may have installed the EAC Runtime to the SD card. Change the address if you did.)
  6. To get the EOS overlay which will allow you to invite friends. In order for this to run, you must edit the FallGuys_client.ini. There’s an argument in there SkipEOS=0 that needs to be referenced for the overlay to show up
  7. Connect to internet before following this. Proton GE 7-20 or above is recommended.
  8. Open Heroic, choose Fall Guys > Settings > Other (from left)
  9. Click “Alternative EXE to run” and choose FallGuys/EpicOnlineServices/EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe
  10. Change Game Arguments (NOT advanced opts) to /install productId=bd7ac06f80e5461e81e967691e5e9436 /quiet
  11. Exit settings, open Fall Guys and hit “Play Now”. Wait until button turns from Playing to Play Now.
